Even though my family and I returned to Australia earlier this year due to the pandemic, we had already planned to spend the summer here. We truly love our community in Newcastle, and we feel abundantly thankful to be able to freely go back and forth between the streets of Manhattan and the beaches of NSW.
It has been the biggest blessing to be here during the pandemic. In terms of the virus itself, my town has only had a handful of cases this entire time, with no current active cases. Needless to say, we’re super safe, and we don’t take that lightly.
So, even though it was different to how we initially thought it would be (with no international, or even out of state travel), it was still such a great summer, and we really did make the most of it.
Here are a few moments of joy.
This was one of my favorite things we did this summer! We actually got to have a few days out on the lake, and we loved it every time. A full day eating, fishing, chatting, and dancing in the sun? YES PLS! Definitely need to do this again now that it’s getting warmer.
We love the Bay– we’ve been going for as long as I can remember and it truly never gets old! We had quite a few trips up there this summer, whether it was just for breakfast at our favorite cafe or to escape for a week.
Our travel options were pretty limited this year, so we took the opportunity to see more of our state in AUS. We spent about a week touring the sweetest, most quintessentially Australian country towns, and we loved every second of it!
Friends + Fam
In a time where so many people aren’t able to see their friends and family, we truly feel so thankful to have had such a beautiful season with ours
My grandparents have some property out in the country, and as crazy as it sounds, we had never done a full fam trip up there. I am so glad we did this! It was such a joyful and restful weekend.
Trip To The Hunter
My Dad loves to mark moments with experiences, rather than with things, so we went away for his birthday this year. We spent some time up at Shoal Bay again, and then we went out into the Hunter. It was such a nice weekend! We went to Hunter Valley Gardens, played Aqua Golf, and had so much good food (including what was arguably the best dinner of 2020).
The view from our room!
Forever thankful for these moments of peace amongst a chaotic world.
All my love,
