Hello, my lovelies! I do hope you are well, and that you have had a great two weeks since I last posted. How crazy is it, that it is already February? It honestly feels like 2016 started a week ago. Anyway, today I am going to be talking about a subject I love most dearly… BIRTHDAYS! Now, if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you will be well aware of this, BUT, yesterday was my 15th birthday! And so today, I thought I would share how I celebrated such an event and give you all a glimpse into what my birthdays in NYC are really like.
This year, I decided to have a very low-key birthday– I didn’t want anything huge. All I wished for was to celebrate my day with my closest friends and family. Therefore, my “official” birthday celebrations began on Friday afternoon with a visit to Alice’s Tea Cup among a few of my closest friends from school. With it’s incredible food and overall adorable atmosphere, Alice’s Tea Cup is easily one of my favorite places to take friends! It was the most amazing afternoon full of too many scones, lots of laughs, free cupcakes, wandering aimlessly, and plenty of photos!
Having my birthday fall on a Saturday meant I had the whole day to celebrate. So after spending the early hours of the morning with my family, opening presents and such, I started out my actual birthday with breakfast at my all time favorite breakfast spot: Ladurée in SoHo. I LOVE Ladurée (their french toast honestly changed my life), and I could not have started my birthday any better. My family and I ended up sitting there for several hours simply enjoying each others company and eating amazing food. It was the most beautiful breakfast.
Because so many of my family live on the other side of the world, I was given lots of gift cards and money, which is amazing considering it’s almost fashion week 😉 So, after breakfast, we hit 5th Avenue and quickly decided exactly what I was to spend my money on.
Shortly afterwards, I headed to the Upper East Side to see my best friend, Flannery. We had originally planned to go to the dining area above Dylan’s Candy Bar and feast on all the chocolate we could find, however that plan was quickly thwarted when we found the dining room to be closed for a private function. Nonetheless, we still had our fair share of a feast at the burger place across the road and spent hours talking about absolutely everything and also absolutely nothing. After we finally emerged from our burger feast, we convinced ourselves it would be a good idea to go back to Dylan’s and find candy to eat. While in Dylan’s we also managed to have a full photoshoot. It was such a blessing to have been able to spend part of my day with my best friend.
After a few hours at home, my family and I got ready once more, and headed to dinner at Tavern On the Green, an all time favorite restaurant of mine. At Tavern On the Green, we ate delicious food, took (even more) photos, and talked for hours, celebrating all that happened while I was 14, and getting excited for all that 15 holds. I ended the night in awe of the kindness and love of my family and close friends, and by dancing to “Fifteen” by Taylor Swift.
Overall, I had the most incredible day. Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, and made the day what it was. A special thank you to my beautiful family for being so generous, encouraging, faithful, and supportive and for making it such an amazing day. My love for you is endless.
So there you have it folks, that is how I celebrated my 15th birthday! But please remember, whether you can afford to have a day like mine every day of the year, or not even once, Proverbs 3:15 tells us that we “are worth more than rubies and pearls”. No amount of money, or likes defines who you are. You are worth so much more than those things.
Make sure to follow me on all my social media to keep up with my daily life. Wishing you all a great week!
